滋賀県信楽にて制作される大谷哲也さんの陶磁器展を開催いたします。
信楽の地に工房を構え、白磁を中心とした器を制作する大谷さん。ろくろによって整えられた簡潔なかたちは、装飾や要素を削ぎ落としながら、料理を受け止める余白を大切にされています。白い素地に施されたマットな釉調は、光の受け方によってわずかに表情を変え、使うことでその印象も少しずつ変化していきます。均質でありながら一つひとつに差異が残り、静かな緊張とゆるやかな広がりが同居しています。大谷さんの器は、特定の文化や用途に寄らず、日々の暮らしの中で自然に使われることを前提としています。料理を盛ることで完成し、使い手や時間とともにその在り方が定まっていきます。本展では、定番の食器をはじめとした日常の器や土鍋、鉢、花入などを中心にご覧いただきます。どうぞご高覧くださいませ。

We are pleased to present an exhibition of ceramic works by Tetsuya Otani, who is based in Shigaraki, Shiga Prefecture. Working from his studio in Shigaraki, Otani creates vessels primarily in white porcelain. Formed on the wheel, their simple shapes are refined by removing excess elements, leaving a sense of openness that accommodates the presence of food. The matte glaze applied to the white surface subtly shifts with the light, and its impression gradually changes through use. While seemingly uniform, each piece retains slight variations, where a quiet tension and gentle openness coexist. Otani’s vessels are not bound to specific traditions or uses, but are intended to be used naturally in everyday life. They are completed through use—when food is served—and their character takes shape over time with the user. This exhibition features a selection of everyday vessels, including plates and bowls.
