A collaborative exhibition with the botanical shop \u300c\u53e2Qusamura\u300d and ceramic artist Yoshio Kangawa. The botanical shop \u300c\u53e2Qusamura\u300d is located in Hiroshima and Tokyo. They produced a larger range of works from landscape gardening, space production to artwork, and all of them are with a main character, cactuses. Among all their works, a window design for Herm\u00e8s in Ginza, called On the journey, left me with an overwhelming impression, though it was finished 6 years ago. Behind the glass, the whole space was occupied by 2500 cactuses. The other main character is Yoshio Kangawa, who learnt pottery from ceramic artist, Ryoji Koie and received tutelage from antiques dealer, Sakata Kazumi. His goal is to produce ceramic ware that suitable for daily use as well as in a minimalist shape. It is the first collaboration and it will become a drawing that finished by them, the all-white ceramic ware produced by Kangawa will become the canvas, while cactuses from Oda will become the pigment.<\/span><\/p>

You could find plant around us are always in different shapes, which are the result of survival and evolution. It might be impossible to figure out what is the motivation behind, but for us, it is important to keep thinking and exploring the answer. The interior layout is designed special for plant that them could enjoy themselves and feel free to communicate with people. Kohei Oda<\/span><\/strong><\/p>

Kohei Oda, born in Hiroshima in 1973. In his 20s, he travelled around the world. One day during his trip in Paris, he entered a select shop, and at the same time a flower artist was putting a show there. It was an amazing and meaningful show that Oda started to design with flower and plant. But soon he got tired of the flower and plant, that being sold in the stores, are always in perfect situation. Sometime while talking with a world-famous art collector, they saw a plant that suffered an injury during transport. The art collector said, how beautiful that struggling plant is! That words inspired Oda that, for plant, the standard of beauty is not defined by human but plant itself. From then on, he chooses plant on his own special standard, that respect the nature and the unique character of each one. Yoshio Kangawa<\/span><\/strong><\/p>

Yoshio Kangawa, born in Yamaguchi prefecture in 1963. The first time he experienced the processes of producing ceramic was in his 30s. It was in Koishikawa village, Fukuoka prefecture, which is considered to be the birthplace of Mingei. Among his trip in this village Kangawa was shocked by the ceramic that get its shape from the soil and reborn by the power of fire. After that amazing trip, he decided to be a ceramist. Fortunately, he met a brilliant teacher, Ryoji Koie, in an exhibition called The artwork created from the free representation of soil. After many years of practice, a kiln was built for creating his own works in 2001. There was a time when Kangawa was confused about the design of the foot area of bowl. At that time, he met an antiques dealer named Sakata, from whom he received useful lot of advice, such as \u201cThe beauty of ceramic ware decided by its foot area\u201d, \u201cIt is good to create ceramic ware for using everyday\u201d. From then on, every year when he invites Sakata to have a look on his new works.
Kangawa produces works of Mingei, art and daily ware, and gets lot of positive help from many people.
