Rusty steel plates, bent copper fragments, and dull aluminum\u2014Ryo Azuma finds beauty in these discarded metal pieces left behind in the corners of the city. Stripped of meaning and function, these \u201cdrifting objects\u201d are reborn through his hands as Tekkari. The term tekkari comes from the secret argot of yashi, wandering peddlers who once sold metal goods and lights. Items once embedded in everyday life, now vague remnants of memory, are embraced by Azuma and reshaped into new forms. Through this process, we too may come to rediscover the quiet strength and beauty hidden in the everyday. On Saturday, May 10th, the exhibition will be enlivened by floral artist Kenta Saito from Ibaraki, who will create a flower installation within the space.
